Maybe AI Won't Solve Everything After All!
When AI's perfect polish meets real life's messy moments, something has to give. Through tales of rogue chatbots, over-engineered emails and scheduling systems that can't read between the lines, this post looks at the "life changing" ai promises and why, sometimes, the most intelligent solution is simply being human.

Last week, a client forwarded me an email from their "AI assistant" that started with
"Thank you for contacting us regarding your scheduling needs.
And ended with …
“This presents a transformative opportunity to optimise our meeting time for maximum value."
Who was this client?
A mum who runs a pottery studio and just wanted to reschedule her website consultation because her daughter had chickenpox!! 😂
All that polished nonsense for a simple reschedule. Real life: 1. AI: 0.
When AI Goes Wrong
Like me, you may have set up some clever business automation and felt quite pleased with yourself.
Then life happens -
Like the daughter comes down with chickenpox, or
When Sarah [a client] emails saying "Fine, whatever works," your AI sees confirmation – you recognise frustration that needs addressing before she becomes a ex-client, or
When your system suggests posting motivation quotes on the day the industry faces a major controversy - AI can’t read a room. Or an email. Or your limits! Or…
When a process needs bending because someone's circumstances are genuinely different, AI sticks rigidly to rules but you would bend them.
Meanwhile, you're spending more time fixing these "time-saving" tools than you ever did just doing the work yourself.
What AI Misses
When Sarah [a client] emails saying "Fine, whatever works," your AI sees confirmation – you recognise frustration that needs addressing before she becomes a ex-client.
When your system suggests posting motivation quotes on the day the industry faces a major controversy - AI can’t read a room. Or an email. Or your limits!
When a process needs bending because someone's circumstances are genuinely different, AI sticks rigidly to rules but you would bend them.
What You Really Need
Real support means having someone who understands when you say, "This feels off but I can't explain why."
It's having someone who suggests dictating site notes into your phone instead of hunting for another perfect app for the job. Sometimes simple beats smart.
Its someone who remembers that you work best before 3pm and doesn’t judge when your brain refuses to start before 10am.
Or that you need a weekly catchup to ensure you do not ignore your To-Do-List
The Human Difference
How your best clients always come through referrals, not the fancy marketing funnel you spent ages building.
Or how you do your best creative work on Tuesdays but always try to cram admin in instead.
It’s spotting when something's about to go sideways before it does.
Knowing when to break your own rules because the situation calls for it.
Remembering that behind every "business opportunity" is an actual person with actual concerns who needs actual help, not corporate speak and automated responses.
The Truth About Working With Real People
When you work with someone who actually understands your business, magic happens.
Not AI magic - REAL magic.
Your systems start working with your brain instead of against it.
Your communications sound like you, not like everyone else.
Problems get caught before they become disasters.
Most importantly, you stop feeling like you're running a business that could be run by anyone. You start building something that's genuinely, recognisably yours.
So maybe…
You’re tired of explaining to bots why your way of working is different.
Or you're fed up with sounding like every other AI-assisted business out there regardless of having given it “your voice guidelines” that you tried so hard to tweak, so… many …. times!
And just MAYBE you want support that actually supports, instead of creating more work.
Real Solutions Exist
They just involve actual humans who understand that business isn't just processes and systems
- it's relationships, judgment calls and the thousand tiny decisions that algorithms can't make.
So are you ready to ditch the bots and have a human conversation?
I’m human – so let’s talk about how your systems can finally feel like they fit.
